Production of 

The Fabulous Fable Factory & Treasure Island


  Dates: Monday, January 7 and Wednesday, January 9 2019

Where: Punxsutawney Presbyterian Church

 Plot: The Fabulous Fable Factory - This delightful story of an inquisitive youngster who discovers an old factory operated by a Mr. (or Mrs.) Aesop and an assembly line of seven (or more) fablemakers. Some of Aesop's best-known fables including The Ant and the Grasshopper, The Lion and the Mouse, The Tortoise and the Hare and others are enacted as the young boy (or girl) surprises everyone, including himself, with his moral-making ability. This charming play is a director's delight as it presents ensemble performing at its best. Treasure Island - The magic of this play comes from the way the entire audience creates the storm at sea, a mosquito-infested jungle and a treasure cave filled with eerie ghosts. Five children become members of Long John's treacherous pirate gang while others join Captain Smollet's crew. The children team up with the fearsome Ben Bulba to help defeat Red the Pirate Queen and save Long John. The audience must decide whether to hang Long John or let him sail away forever to inhabit children's dream

Cast Requirements: The Fabulous Fable Factory - Monroe/Margo - boy or girl aged 12 to mid-teens; Mr. Aesop/Mrs.Aesop - Adult male or female; 7 actors of any age or sex to portray the Fable Makers who out the fables. Roles can be of varying sizes for those who wish to gain experience but don't want large parts. Treasure Island - Long John Silver (a pirate) - Adult male; Captain Smollet ( a sea captain) - Adult male; Jamie (an adventurous tomboy) - teenage female; Red (a pirate queen) - Adult female; Cross Bun (a female pirate) - Adult female;Ben Bulba (a fearsome old pirate queen) - Adult female

Audition Process: Each potential performer will be expected to read from a number of selected pieces. This process will establish the physical type and vocal capabilities & strength. Actors can choose to be in one play or both and roles are of varying sizes. This a perfect opportunity for someone interested in getting their theatrical feet wet. Persons involved in the dinner theater scheduled for Jan 26 are also encouraged to audition as the rehearsal schedules will only briefly overlap
