Title PTAG Announces Auditions for "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" and "The Fall of the House of Usher"

The Punxsutawney Theatre Arts Guild announces auditions for its final show of the 2016 season. They are Monday, August 15  & Tuesday, August 16 in the Punxsutawney Memorial Library from 5:00pm -  7:00pm. The exact location within the facility will be well marked. The Guild will audition those interested, veterans and newcomers alike, from the ages of 16 and up.

PTAG is looking to brew up some Halloween classics as the troupe prepares to stage two One-Acts to make a full evening of horror. "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" by Washington Irving and dramatized by Kathyrn Schultz Miller will offer a telling of the fright that awaited Ichabod Crane one autumn night. That's right the Headless Horseman will be seen in Punxsutawney! Also a part of the theatrical run will be Edgar Allan Poe's "The Fall of the House Of Usher." That adaptation comes from Robert Lanier and explores all the evils awaiting in the Usher home. Both plays will be presented in arrangement with The Dramatic Publishing Company.

Performance dates are still pending, but the troupe hopes to present this fall production in late October just before Halloween. Those chosen for roles will be under the direction of Debra Dinsmore and Jef Dinsmore for PTAG. There are multiple characters available between the two titles utilizing period costumes and, of course, all the special effects that go into bringing them to life. Says the directors, "We decided to tap into two underused themes to accomplish the final production of the season. We are creating Halloween hi-jinks and the One-Act format. Both shows, though each only an hour long will make for a great theatrical evening, if we can just get it cast."
